This painting was originally intended to be totally abstract; however, when it was finished and it came time to give it a title, I realized to my surprise that I had subconsciously depicted the praying mantis that I had been seeing every day while picking my green beans!  I have always had a great admiration and respect for these helpful creatures, and I am grateful to this one for guarding my beans from pests.

This painting was selected to be part of Tamarack’s 2022 “Small Packages” Juried Exhibition.
