The theme for this painting is based on a haiku I wrote a long time ago – the eternal cycle of the rise and fall of civilizations – this time expressed in color and form.  The verdancy of untamed nature gives way to the grey creep of concrete and then to the bold, artificial colors and structures of buildings.  But as the tenements decay, nature begins her hesitant but inevitable reemergence and reclamation.

This painting was selected to be a part of the 21st biennial West Virginia Juried Exhibition and was on display at the Culture Center at the State Capitol Complex in Charleston, WV from November 17, 2019 until February 18, 2020.
