This painting is one of those extremely rare pieces (for me) that practically painted itself. It was done very early in the morning while it was still dark outside and dim in my studio with a palette of left-over mostly blue paint. I finished it in about 45 minutes, and although the appearance is uncharacteristically monochromatic, I decided I had better leave it the way it was. One of my favorites.  As the title implies, it depicts a stand of trees that has been damaged by a storm, a common occurrence here.  But the sky is already lightening, a sign of hope and healing.
